INT. STATION WAGON – MORNING<\/p>\n
STAN and MURIEL Bagwell, mid forties, average hight and build, sit side by side, driving down a remote stretch of Freeway.\u00a0 They pass a sign that says NEXT REST STOP 40 MILES – and another that says “NEXT FOOD\/GAS\/LODGING 45 MILES.”<\/p>\n
STAN glances at the signs, and then down at the speedometer.\u00a0 It rests just a hair over 55.\u00a0 MURIEL also looks, nods her head, and turns back to watch the road.<\/p>\n
We see another sign.\u00a0 This one reads WARNING: “SPEED CONTROLLED BY AIRCRAFT”.<\/p>\n
STAN reads the sign and smirks.\u00a0He looks ahead, right, and left. The smirk becomes a grin. He presses a little harder on the gas.\u00a0 MURIEL looks at him, then at the slowly rising arrow on the speedometer.\u00a0 She frowns and turns away.\u00a0 STAN glances at her slyly and presses even harder on the gas.<\/p>\n
They come up on a second sign reading “WARNING: SPEED CONTROLLED BY AIRCRAFT” and MURIEL points to it, not lowering he hand until they are well past.\u00a0 STAN stomps on the gas and the station wagon shoots forward.\u00a0 The road slants upward slightly.<\/p>\n
MURIEL crosses her arms in front of her and shakes her head.\u00a0 STAN grins gleefully and plows ahead.<\/p>\n
Over the crest of the hill above, we see a jet appear.\u00a0 It’s a harrier, and it hovers, just above the road.\u00a0 STAN glances up at it in wonder, but continues to speed.\u00a0 MURIEL’s hand covers her heart.<\/p>\n
We see it coming directly at us from STAN’s POV.\u00a0 There is a huge explosion.\u00a0 When the dust clears, we see nothing but a cloud of dust, and light debris raining onto the road.\u00a0 On the tail fin of the harrier, as it pivots to head off, we see a logo.\u00a0 It reads DOT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
